The Milwaukee Bucks may not be done making blockbuster moves. Shortly after acquiring Tyler Herro in the blockbuster Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, reports emerged that Milwaukee could explore moving the former All-Star once again.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, the Bucks are expected to gauge Herro’s market around the league rather than making him the cornerstone of their post-Giannis era.

“The Bucks still have work to do, as league sources say it remains unclear if Herro will remain with the team. While there is interest in making the Milwaukee native part of his hometown program, sources say the Bucks will also listen to offers for the 26-year-old All-Star,” Amick reported.

The logic is understandable. Herro is entering the final year of his contract at roughly $33 million and could command a massive extension next summer.

Herro averaged 20.5 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 4.1 APG, 0.7 SPG, and 0.4 BPG on 48.0% FG, 37.8% 3-PT FG, and 91.7% FT in 33 appearances in 2025-26. Clearly not healthy, the 26-year-old still showed enough in that sample size following his All-Star campaign the year prior.

For a Bucks team that just went into a major rebuild, committing long-term money to Herro may not be the ideal path. Instead, Milwaukee could flip him for additional draft capital, a young prospect, and cap space flexibility.

With Herro essentially becoming a one-year rental for interested teams, his trade value likely falls into the range of one first-round pick, a second-round pick, a salary filler, and perhaps a young player with upside.

Here are the five best landing spots.

5. Memphis Grizzlies

Proposed Trade Package: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (Sign-and-Trade), Taylor Hendricks, 2026 No. 16 overall pick, 2026 No. 32 overall pick, 2031 second-round pick, 2032 second-round pick

The Memphis Grizzlies have spent years searching for additional scoring next to Ja Morant. Whether they keep Morant or trade him remains to be seen, but Memphis has often struggled to generate offense and need a long-term offensive star.

Herro would instantly solve part of that problem. He can create his own shot, operate in pick-and-roll situations, and punish defenses from beyond the arc. He’s also only 26 years old, and Morant is 26, so perhaps they can keep both of them moving forward.

The Grizzlies could view Herro as the cornerstone of a team built around elite defense and athleticism. Pairing him with Morant would give Memphis one of the most balanced offensive duos in the Western Conference, but if the Grizzlies move their point guard, Herro can have his own team.

The challenge would be determining whether Herro is worth a long-term extension. If not, Memphis could treat him as a one-year rental to see how he does with the ball in his hands all the time.

Meanwhile, the Bucks acquire Caldwell-Pope, who has an expiring $21.6M player option after 2026-27, and the 22-year-old Taylor Hendricks with four future picks, including two seconds down the line. Hendricks averaged 7.4 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 0.8 SPG, and 0.5 BPG in 18.9 MPG over 59 games last season, while Caldwell-Pope posted 8.4 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 2.7 APG, and 0.8 SPG on 31.6% 3-PT FG in 51 games.

4. Brooklyn Nets

Proposed Trade Package: Terance Mann, Noah Clowney, 2026 No. 33 overall pick, 2026 No. 43 overall pick, 2032 first-round pick

The Brooklyn Nets continue to search for star power after acquiring Julius Randle. After missing out on several marquee names over the past few years, Brooklyn remains one of the few teams capable of absorbing significant salary while maintaining future flexibility.

Herro would immediately become one of their top offensive options and provide a proven scoring threat in the Eastern Conference.

For Milwaukee, Brooklyn also possesses something every rebuilding team wants: draft capital.

A deal centered around a future first-round pick and additional assets could make sense for both sides. The Nets would get a player entering his prime to pair with Julius Randle and Michael Porter Jr., while the Bucks would continue stockpiling resources for the future.

The Bucks, meanwhile, get an expiring deal in Terance Mann (7.2 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 3.0 APG, 0.7 SPG, 0.2 BPG), a 21-year-old Noah Clowney (12.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 0.8 SPG, 0.7 BPG), and three future picks to continue their extensive rebuild.

The biggest question is whether Brooklyn wants to pay Herro what could be a $50 million-per-year extension beginning in 2027.

3. Orlando Magic

Proposed Trade Package: Jalen Suggs, Jase Richardson, 2026 No. 46 overall pick, 2031 second-round pick, 2032 second-round pick

The Orlando Magic have built one of the league’s best young cores, but they still need perimeter shot creation. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner have developed into stars, but Orlando’s offense has often stalled in half-court sets, especially in the playoffs.

Herro would immediately become one of the team’s most dangerous perimeter scorers and best three-point shooters. He would immediately replace the 25-year-old Jalen Suggs (13.8 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 5.5 APG, 1.8 SPG, and 0.5 BPG in 2025-26) as the primary creator on offense.

The Bucks bring back Suggs, along with 20-year-old Jase Richardson (4.4 PPG, 1.2 RPG, 1.1 APG, 0.4 SPG), and some second-round picks for future assets.

Orlando has the defensive infrastructure to cover some of Herro’s weaknesses while maximizing his offensive strengths. He wouldn’t need to be the franchise player; he’d simply need to score and get Banchero and Wagner into better positions.

If the Magic believe they are one offensive weapon away from becoming true contenders, Herro could be worth the gamble.

2. Houston Rockets

Proposed Trade Package: Jabari Smith Jr., Reed Sheppard, 2026 No. 39 overall pick

Few teams are more aggressive than the Houston Rockets right now. Houston has already demonstrated a willingness to make roster moves, and adding Herro would provide another proven offensive weapon for a team that sometimes struggles in half-court offense.

His shooting would fit beautifully alongside the Rockets’ collection of athletes and interior scorers. The Rockets also have the draft assets necessary to make a deal without sacrificing the core of their roster.

From Milwaukee’s perspective, Houston could offer exactly what they’re seeking: young developmental players and a pick. Jabari Smith Jr. is only 23 years old, averaged 15.8 PPG and 6.9 RPG this past season, and Sheppard turns 22 years old tomorrow after posting 13.5 PPG and 3.4 APG in 2025-26.

For the Rockets, Herro’s scoring punch could prove invaluable as they build a new Big Three with Alperen Sengun and Kevin Durant.

This feels like the move a team makes when it believes its championship window is opening sooner rather than later, and perhaps they won’t need to trade either star after all.

1. Detroit Pistons

Proposed Trade Package: Duncan Robinson, Ron Holland (Sign-and-Trade), Marcus Sasser (Sign-and-Trade), 2026 No. 21 overall pick, 2031 second-round pick, 2032 second-round pick

No team makes more sense than Detroit. The Pistons have officially arrived as a playoff contender behind Cade Cunningham, but they still need another high-level scorer capable of taking pressure off their franchise star.

Herro would immediately become Detroit’s second-best offensive player and provide elite shooting around Cunningham. After seeing how the Eastern Conference playoffs went, the fit is obvious since only three perimeter players averaged in double-digits playoff scoring (Cunningham, Tobias Harris, and Duncan Robinson).

Cade thrives with spacing and secondary creators. Herro excels as both a shooter and a playmaker. Together, they would form one of the Eastern Conference’s best backcourts.

Most importantly, Detroit has the assets to make Milwaukee listen without gutting its young core.

A future first-round pick, a second-round pick, and matching salary could be enough to get serious negotiations started. The Bucks bring back Robinson (12.2 PPG on 41.0% 3-PT FG), Ron Holland (8.2 PPG, 4.0 RPG at 20 years old), and Marcus Sasser (5.2 PPG and 2.0 APG at 25 years old), along with picks.

If the Pistons are serious about becoming a contender, acquiring a player of Herro’s caliber without surrendering multiple premium assets is exactly the kind of calculated risk they should pursue.
