LaVar Ball is facing another off-court challenge after reports emerged that he is being sued over an alleged unpaid balance related to home renovations and the construction of a private basketball court.

According to TMZ, MD Steel Inc. has filed a lawsuit against Ball, claiming the company completed nearly $970,000 worth of work at his California mansion but was never fully paid. Court documents reportedly state that Ball paid roughly $750,000, leaving an outstanding balance of $221,928.

The contractor is now asking the court to recover the remaining amount. The renovations reportedly included the installation of an at-home basketball court along with additional work at Ball’s sprawling 15,000-square-foot mansion, which features eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.

The lawsuit comes during what has already been a difficult week for the Big Baller Brand founder.

Just days earlier, Ball revealed that he and his wife, Tina Ball, had separated after nearly 30 years of marriage. Speaking during an appearance with content creator N3on, LaVar confirmed that Tina decided to file for divorce, bringing an end to one of basketball’s most recognizable family partnerships.

Despite the personal developments, Ball maintained that he was moving forward with his life, although he declined to share further details about his new relationship.

Now, the legal dispute adds another significant issue to his growing list of off-court matters.

Neither Ball nor his representatives have publicly responded to the allegations outlined in the lawsuit. As with any civil case, the claims made in the complaint remain allegations unless proven in court or resolved through a settlement.

While Lonzo and LaMelo both reached the NBA, with LaMelo recently being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a blockbuster deal, LaVar has largely remained in the spotlight through media appearances and business ventures.

The latest lawsuit now shifts attention away from basketball and toward an expensive legal dispute.

If MD Steel’s claims are upheld, Ball could be ordered to pay the remaining $221,928 plus any additional legal costs determined by the court. Until then, the case will proceed through the legal process as both sides present their arguments.

For Ball, what was intended to be a dream basketball court has instead become the center of a costly legal battle that is only beginning.
