LaVar Ball, the father of basketball players LaMelo, LiAngelo, and Lonzo Ball, recently revealed that he has separated from his wife and is undergoing divorce proceedings.
Subsequently, the former Cavaliers guard, Lonzo Ball, decided to open up about his true feelings without going into much detail on the unfortunate reality of his family, specifically his parents’ situation.
He sat down and recorded an episode of his podcast with his brother, LiAngelo Ball, and touched briefly upon helping his mother, Tina Ball, leave his father, LaVar.
“I’m pretty sure we all know that the internet has been in an uproar about the situation. I’m going to touch on it briefly. First and foremost, I want to say I love both my parents, but the situation that is put before y’all is not how it went down.”
“I’m not about to get into all the details, but long story short, my mom didn’t want to leave. She was ‘damn near forced’ to leave. I helped her leave. I’m glad she left. She’s in a great spot. Shout out to Dip. Put her up nice. So, she’s good. My pops is good.”
“They obviously don’t f–k with each other, but I f–k with them both. And she was not wrong at all. She did not leave him because he left his because he lost his foot. That’s a myth that was put out there,” Ball clarified.
“But my dad did a great job raising us. My mom did a great job raising us. They didn’t work out, and it is what it is, man. They are both doing well, and I love them both. We can move on now.”
Lonzo asked LiAngelo if he had to say something about it, but he only agreed with his brother’s summary of the situation. “Well said, Duke,” was his only reaction.
LaVar Ball had undergone an amputation of his right leg after suffering an infection that eventually began spreading through his blood. He claimed he was negligent about his diabetes and thus had to end up making this tough decision.
These comments from Lonzo also present a contrary opinion to what LaVar Ball suggested in his initial remarks, that it was his ex-wife, Tina, who initiated the split between the couple.
Now, either LaMelo Ball or his brother, LiAngelo, can confirm which version of the story is true. But they are yet to make any detailed public statements about this.
