Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but we now know that if someone does get close to him, they’d have an incredible friend by their side. Colombian singer J Balvin has been friends with Butler for years, and on the latest episode of Phoning It In, he chose to prank him as part of the “Ask someone to wire you $2 million” challenge.

J Balvin: “I’m in a f***ing trouble. I need you.”

Jimmy Butler: “What’s up?”

Balvin: “Bro, I’m so dumb. Yesterday I bought a f***ing $2 million chain, but Valentina [Ferrer] didn’t know. We have like an account together, and I f***ing lost it last night when I got in the FBO. I left a f***ing $2 million chain on that s***…”

Butler: “Shut the f*** up.”

Balvin: “Yeah, I lost that. So, bro, just f***ing help me, bro. At least help me with a wire, and I pay you tonight.”

Butler: “You need two?”

Balvin: “Yeah, two. But I use the two millions with with our account. We have family account. I have my personal account, and I f***ed up, and I used the family one.”

Butler: “I got you. Just send me your wire info. I’ll send it to you.”

Balvin: “It’s only two, baby. I got you tomorrow.”

Butler: “Nah, that’s a bet.”

Balvin: “You sure?”

Butler: “Yeah. I ain’t trippin’.”

Balvin: “Sure?”

Butler: “Yeah, just send me your wire and s***. I’ll get that b**** out.”

Balvin: “Okay. I love you because it was a lie. But you just passed the test.”

Butler: “No! N***a stop playin’, all right? What’s wrong with you, man? A million, dog. You lost a $2 million chain. You’re sick, bro. I ain’t trippin’, s***. You said 2 million. I was coming through for you, my G.”

We all know people in our lives who would hesitate even if you ask them for small amounts of money, and here is Butler just giving $2 million to Balvin. Sure, the 36-year-old will have made a ridiculous $423 million in salaries by the time his contract expires next season, but that’s still a lot of money to part with.

Balvin can rest easy knowing Butler will always have his back. Everyone needs a friend like this.

Getting back to Butler’s finances, he might not make much more than that $423 million figure in the NBA. The six-time All-Star tore his ACL back in January, and you wonder how effective he is going to be when he gets back.

We have seen players come back strong from these ACL injuries in recent years, but Butler, who averaged 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game in 2025-26, will turn 37 in September. He is no spring chicken, so you do worry about him. Hopefully, he’ll be just fine.
